I've already turned down a couple places that tried the sharing a room thing. You want me to share a hotel room with someone I've NEVER met before? I wouldn't share a room with people in my own family, much less a complete stranger and potential psychopath/druggie/drunk/thief. And if you expect me to spend 18 hours on a Greyhound, you just told me you're a joke of a company.

I have been a Class A driver for more than 25 yrs and I have always been in compliance with all Federal rules and regulations. I recently started driving for a company who does not enforce pre-trips or post-trips. I filed a Grievance complaint on the Company Manager because he was a driver and knows better. The company manager terminated my employment for doing so. I live in Odessa TX. (2024)

Western express does that they split your regular pay into per diem if you run 200 miles at .50 your pay would be 50.00 at regular pay and 50.00 at per diem

When I started to train my trainer didn’t allow me to use a GPS, only used paper maps. Trained me to do mountains and declines without Jake-brake. His theory is when technology fails you need to use the tools available at the time of the failure. This is why there was an issue with the cream cheese shortage. It was a failure of the computers.

Rand McNally has all the restricted routes, low bridges, and even teaches you about the bridge law, which new drivers have no idea about

First 4 or 5 years of trucking, I used good old Rand McNally Atlas.... And the nice thing about that, it gave you all the restricted roads up in the front of the atlas in the index

When in doubt, call the shipper or a receiver, for routing to their facility.

To GPS, or not to GPS, that is the question. I would think of it as a tool, alongside the map. Just like cell phones, they're okay, but don't totally rely on them all the time.

The part about the 90 days, if you get home at 11:00 p.m., they consider that a day at home. Easy fix, Park the truck outside the gate until midnight. Problem solved.

ATA is very much a supportive of the PROBLEM Also free truck washing, tire and maintenance plus trailer sweeping, and working pre and posts unpaid Regional per mile is extra crap on crap . SLC to Phoenix has 3 major cities to crawl through plus 2 lane and mountains due to short mile route demand from carrier . Just ridiculous! Been driving for 16+ years and have ALWAYS done a 15 minute Pre-Trip and a Post-Trip Inspection on 15 minutes NEVER had problems with the DOT!!

If anyone from that company is wondering, when a company declares bankruptcy the first to get paid are employees. It may take a year but they're first in line.

I can't believe the gullibility of some of those driver's...let alone the size of the NUTS on the company's personnel for even asking such a thing towards a driver! If it was me, hell - the only question that I would ask is: "Are you serious?" And if that answer is yes, i will then proceed to end the call, laugh all the way back to the company, park their truck, take pictures of the truck, hop in my whip &bounce to crib to begin my NEW job search! ...in that order! Fuhk that company! 🫡😅✌🏽😇🫡

It's getting bad here in the U.S.!!! Trucking companies are closing down every other week seems like 🤔🧐🧐!!! Jobs are general on the brink or with low wage pay!!! The job industry here is gonna get smothered because of all of the illegals coming across the border and with that said, Low wage pay or not enough to survive in this over inflating economy...

I couldn't count how many companies have disappeared over the last 35 years. Some are good about it and get all the chickens to roost. And some just leave em to the wolves Good luck man
